Introduction

Hi, my name is Shawn Smith.  I am a Sport Industry major and I am (hopefully) graduating at the end of this semester.  Sports have played a major role in my life and that is where I have had many of my leadership experiences.  I was voted as captain of my football and basketball team three years in a row.  I took great pride in being selected captain especially because it was voted on by my teammates.  They could vote for anyone by they decided that I was a good enough leader them.  My senior year, I go injured during the season and was unable to play most of the games but my teammates still looked to me to help lead them in tough situations.  That is something I will never forget.  I was in a tough situation personally but my friends and teammates picked me up and didn't let me feel sorry for myself.  They needed me and I needed them.  We ended up winning our conference title in basketball and even though I was not on the court playing, I feel that my leadership helped along the way.
